Weekend desu~

it's friday~ yay~ and we're going to watch phantom tmr~ yay~!! *bounces happily*

supervisor isn't here again. he went to donate blood. and i wonder if he's even coming in later. hmm. if he doesn't come in... i dunno wat i'm going to do until next wed. cos he's off to sydney on mon and tues, and i need to know what i shud do next with the venom sample... is muchly precious. weh. another reason why i doubt i'll ever be a pure researcher. i need someone to hold my hand and tell me wat to do. -_-" lucky is not in s'pore desu. i'd prob feel like some insignificant insect in the lab there.

random observation, i just realised that when the dior lipgloss dries, it dries shiny. *fascinated* CROW COMPLEX~ hahaha. ya. using the dior kiss lipgloss now cos i've had them for... almost 2 years? ya. and it'd be a waste to have to chuck them out if they got too gross cos i paid for them... my first 'branded' makeup purchase that i paid for myself. lol. cos most of my stuff is from my sisters cos the colour is too... 'wild' for them. hahaha. or else mum who refuses to let me pay unless i practically whack her with my bag and run to the counter with wat i want to buy lol.

watched the first fantaghiro movie yesterday... omg. subtitles for first part... it was practically done using babelfish!!! terrible terrible HORRIBLE!! thank goodness the second part was subbed properly... ya... but the other movies haven't been subbed so is sad. why is it that noone has uploaded the englihs dub??? sigh. anyway, it was... interesting. alessandra martines is really really pretty. and kimi rossi stuart is hot. lol. he looks a bit like the guy playing peter petrelli, except i doubt it's him cos firstly, it's an italian movie, and secondly, he'd be too old for the role by now? i think? i dunno. lol. ya. but movie was not bad. the effects were pretty bleh cos it was made in the early 90s, so no decent CG... and omg, the end was so soppy i almost died laughing hahaha. but it was good entertainment. XD

talked to mum for almost an hour yesterday. she was on a sugar high cos she ate a bowl of strawberries with sugar (sound familiar anyone?) ya... and she was telling me to cut down on red meat. sniff. so i need to think up of more dishes!! la la la... and i just realised, it's 2 more months before i go home~ *excited* ya. then i was telling her abt the shoe expedition i went on with waku last week. and he was sort of instigating me to buy shoes. -_-" weeeeeeh my mummy is ebil. and my sisters seem convinced that i go shopping everyday or smthg... they keep asking if i bought anything new!!! and it's not like i'm the one surfing randomly for bags and shoes!!! BLEH.

had a lecture on how to write a thesis this morning. or rather, we were supposed to have a lecture. except none of the lecturers knew that they were supposed to give us a lecture. lol. so we kind of cornered alistair and he was like "oh. OH. erm. give me 5 minutes." and then he disappeared to print out some notes that he'd used last year or smthg. hahaha. but it was pretty good... by his standards. i mean, i didn't fall asleep! but then again, i was seated right across the table from him (cos only 7 pple turned up so we used a pbl room) ya. but it was much more interesting than those sorry excuses for ams lecutres that we've had so far. -_-"

hmm... wat to have for lunch... was too lazy to cook anything today... maybe i'll go adn buy sushi? yum. sushi. hehe. need to go draw money too... la la la.

shall go home and paint nails later. XD finally have my white nail polish... now i need to buy a bottle of cheap black nail polish. i wonder if that makeup shop at target centre is still open... or maybe i should check out hairhouse warehouse? cos i need to buy conditioner too. i bought a bottle of glitter nailpolish there before... la la. see how. hehe.

dance tonight!!! if i can be bothered, i'll bring my dance pants along to change... been dancing in jeans all year. couldn't be botehred changing. haha.

Mooncake~

people! mooncakes are on sale now! go get them~ hahaha. bought a box of redbean with 2 yolk yesterday. too bad there's no more of the lotus paste with seeds inside... i like those... i might go and buy a box of the white lotus paste if i'm feeling greedy. XD ate 1/2 yesterday, force fed the mr veggie teh other half and made him take 1 home as payment for feeding me (i threatened to show up on his doorstep with raw meat and make him cook dinner for me if he didn't take the mooncake). so have 2 mooncakes left, enough for a little mooncake party. XD hehe.

yesterday was a good day~ ran the scorpion venom on a gel. used half the venom for the test run, but turns out that we prob can use 1/20th of that anount next time. so is good... need to resolve the protein bands better tho, becos the high and low ends of hte spectrum weren't very clear. but we is getting results so is happy... the gel is currently floating happily in the fridge in its own petri dish swimming pool. XD incidentally, i never knew till yesterday that square petri dishes existed. XD haha. they is cute~

ya. so i spent the whole morning (got in at 9am... too early!) yesterday runnign the gel and checking up on it every 20 min... if i don't get fit this year i'll be very surprised. i have my own running regime (to uni every morning and up and down the lab corridor) and weights regime (heaving my laptop and bag to and fro everyday, plus marketing on saturdays) hahaha. ya. so i had lunch at ard 2.30... supervisor brought his kids rockclimbing at the place near aldi, so i also siam-ed at ard 4.30. hehehe.

ya... then went to city and bought mooncake! *is a pig* ended up camping at my place and watching tv (omg mr veggie is prisonbreak fan i is scared. -_-")... then the editing guy suddenly sms-ed to ask if i was free to talk... so i had to set up my laptop and everything except that it froze on me!!! so had to restart etc... ended up going online almost 30min after i got the message. alalala. ya. but anyway, we talked for abt an hour, so i'm more or less hired. as in, i'm now waiting for him to send me stuff to edit, so is to earns money soon i hope. XD

and speaking of prison break, for those interested, it started last week i think? so channel 7, wednesday at 9.30. and heroes season 2 is starting next week~ channel 7, thursday at 9.30. is excited. XD yay~ lyd would be very excited. i think she's in love with peter petrelli. hahaha... shall e-mail her and ask. XD whee~

hm... ya... so supervisor is the MIA today. i think i will siam home if he doesn't come in by 3.30... or maybe 4. can't be bothered going for the seminars later hehe.... erm... ya. so shall go and read the news and spam pple online and read some journal articles. the seminar this morning was... slightly more useful than last week but still very cmi. sigh

YAY~

my internet lives~~~ i think it was just being stupid yesterday. -_-" it connected just as i got put on hold for the guy to check wat was wrong... waster phone bill. oh well. all for teh sake of spamming and being spammed lol.

anyway. update on my life since last fri. assuming anyone's interested. lab stuff first~

friday... ran the gel using our system... NO RESULTS. -_-" i think it's cos i didn't boil the samples sufficiently... or else the system is just screwed. more likely it's a combination of both. so anyway, we (me and roger) were rather !@#$% abt all the wasted time... so we decide that we'd spend thsi week troubleshooting the whole system... so yesterday, he didn't come in. -_-" he rang me from home at abt 11 and asked if i was at the lab. and luckily i was and not at home going zzzz lol. ya. so anyway. i went to ask the guys at the lab down the corridor if they could help me... and then we used ant and spider venoms on their gel and system... ya... so yesterday was spent pouring the gel (very interesting. but some of hte chemicals are carcinogenic so can't get high on fumes lol) and then i was mixing up samples again. weh.

today! we ran the samples on teh gel we poured yesterday... YAY GOT RESULTS~~~ was very happy. cos at least i know that i'm doing up the samples correct. XD ya... but i made the spider venom too concentrated. but the end result was still good. could see the protein bands and stuff. so is happy happy joy joy. ya. so tmr, we're going to run the first lot of scorpion venom... which is half of the first sample that we got. so hopefully that goes well, otherwise will be very *stabs self* at least project is going somewhere... altho it's just become a little complicated as to the whole analysis thing... ya...

also got back the feedback for my project outline... in short, i don't have sufficient justification. -_-" well. i need to reason out why i'm using those particular scorpions (too bad i can't write: because that's wat my supervisor gave me) and the whole basis behind the project. sigh. but other than that i don't think there's anything wrong with it. i mean, 1000 words! how much jsutification can you put into something that short on a topic that has never been done before!! on aussie scorpions that is. there's loads of stuff on the asian and mexican scorpions cos they're the dangerous ones. la la.

anyway. wat else... dance~ did the latin run... forgot the ending of jive. -_-" need to work on that... but wasn't as winded as i thought i'd be by the time we went throuhg the routines, maybe becos i had a longer break than i would have since tyson had to go to the stereo to change the songs manually. la. hope that i'll have enough energy to boune for jive by the end. i think rumba might be my best dance tho? i dunno. tyson did put a lot of effort into teaching me the correct techniques for that... my cha cha... arm styling is a PAIN. as in. i can pull of the very forceful movements right at the beginning, but as it goes on, i becoms more floppy, i think. samba... used to be good, now it's only so-so IMO. tyson doesn't see anything wrong with it so maybe i'm just being nit-picky. ya. need to get the spin right, cos i tend to go spiralling to lalaland when i try to do it with arms. -__-" which reminds me, i need a ruler on the floor for the final cha cha spin out. i no can go in straight line lol. jive. needs work. and i need a tail or smthg. then maybe can balance better lol.

sat! went to see dance shoes witht he waku.... saw a pair that were on sale for 150 (like that counts a sale weeeeeh) and it was MY SIZE!! but DAME. will not buy new shoes. not until my current pair are dead beyond dead. i aiming for either a hole in the fabric or the strap breaking/fraying beyond hope. besides, i like having closed toe shoes. not as painful lol. altho it might be good to not be slipping ard in my shoes, altho i have got used to that... hmmm. argh. LALING YOU BATT!!! she was waving the shoes and saying that they calls my name!!! lol. oh well. i shall just go and oogle her pretty new shoes and erm... I VOLUNTEERS TO STRETCHES THEM FOR YOU!!! (considering that i'm 1 size bigger than her, ya. it would be a very sad case when she gets it back. XD) besides, if i'm going to buy pretty shoes, i might consider burning the extra $60 on the ones with the pretty sparkly buckles and stuff... ya ya. crow complex.

anyway! just got e-mail from the editing guy. i'm hired!!!! *does happy happy dance* well. he wants to talk to me too... so will prob be doing that over skype. lol. the joys of skype. was testing my mic out on sat nite. so mr veggie ended up listening to me karaoke-ing along to my mp3s... not that he didn't deserve it after playing 'umbrella' on loop at one point. I HATE THAT SONG. it's stupid. -_-" speaking of stupid songs, supervisor sent me an mp3 of weird al's version of the 'you're beautiful' song by james-wat's-his-name. it's called 'you're pitiful' and it's super funny. he was playing it in the lab today after we got the results for the gel. XD erm. wat was i talking about? ah yes, my prospective job. ya. so. hope that i'm going to get some $$$ soon... then can buy PSP~ and dance shoes. maybe. don't know whether i'll have time for lessons when clinicals start. is sad...

oh, and speaking of PSP, my mum was very excited when i mailed to ask her to book my ticket home. she was like yes yes, come home early, ahve long holiday, you want to buy PS3 or not? and i was like O.o..... hahaha. ya, but no, i'm not going to get a PS3. unless i pay for it (or part of it) myself, and only if ff7 comes out for it. i don't really care abt the new ff games anymore... and i think my bro-in-law is going to get/has a PS3. so i shall pay my sister many visits. and when i leave they will find some electronic equipment missing. XD ya... but PSP!!! PSP is a must. in anticiaption of crisis core. if it doesn't come out... well. bro-in-law has many lessthanlegal games that can be d/led onto the memory stick so mwahaha. XD

so, i'm set to go home the weekend of 9th dec... but am on the waitlist, altho i'm pretty sure i can get teh ticket. yay for super travel agents hahhaa. then hopefully i can stay home for CNY, but that'll depend on the status of the project then... if i can't afford to stay the extra 2 weeks (not like i'm not going home late already.) then i guess i'll come back after my sister's b'day... weh. wants to stay home for new year tho... sniff sniff. supervisor forgot that we'd agreed to that previously, so when i raised the topic at our meeting today he was like O.O why such a long holiday!!! so i had to explain how the semester actually ends on 16nov and starts on 21jan. and that i am therefore justified in going home for 2 months. oh well. but if need to come back early then no choice ne? as long as i get home early enough to go and beautify self for sister's wedding mwahahaha.

oh yes, and my hair is now long enough to braid. but not very neatly. heheh... wat to do for the wedding??? i did bright red highlights last year... i like red, but maybe is hould change colour. like to pink like in sem 2 haahhaha... is tempted to dye hair dark red for fun, but i think the regrowth would be quite... bad... especially if i leave it till next july. -_-" so guess i'll jsut stick to crazy highlights. hahaha

wow. long post. too much to ramble abt? haha... just finished my lunch. yes. LUNCH. at 5pm. didn't manage to eat the whole day. cos was running ard waiting for experiments and figuring stuff out or just plain not hungry at the times when i could have gone to eat. oh well. think i'll crash on my desk for a while and then wake up and cook chicken porridge. whee~

anyway. my weekend? was good. XD went to burn dvd at mr veggie's place (yay my harddrive isn't dying so much anymore!) and got fed ice cream... then dragged him to eat MORE ice cream at freddo's. XD then i started watching hanakimi... so i finished all but the last ep, which isn't up for d/ling yet. XD

also reading naruto manga... 70 more chapters to go! lol i wonder if it's anywhere close to finishing... hmm...

running the gels again... results are currently looking pretty good so shall keep fingers crossed.

ok... back to work! will update some day when i've got more time to type and when i get internet at home... -_-" hopefully it was jsut the server. la la la... altho mum jsut rang and said that apparently, my dad hasn't been charged for my internet at all??? strange. very strange

Lab work

ok... HoD has gone to PNG, supervisor has gone for some meeting and isn't coming back for hte rest of hte day.

and i'm supposed to be making up solutions for the test gel which we're going to run tmr.

*headdesk*

anyone who knows me knows that i can't calculate without a calculator anymore. weeeeeeeeeeeh.

but at least i finally gett o do lab work. now... i just need find the right buffer and make sure i get teh correct concentrations... guess i'll have to input it onto the calculator on teh computer sha la la.

going to college for dinner tonite... but i htink alice is cooking, not the college food. oh well. i hope jessie is there. haven't seen her for long time.

is HUNGRY! had lab meetin at 9 this morning. interesting. ran's got pretty good results, so the pressure is on! competition~ hahaha. not really. but ya... it's abt time i got started with the lab stuff anyway.

why i think i won't go into a research career: i hate not having things written done... like protocols... and mixing stuff up. wish i had a paper and could just get all the stuff done from there.

sigh.

ok. better get cracking. the sooner i figure out wat's going on and wat to mix and how much to mix, the faster i can go home. XD whee~

incidentally, aldi has good fruit and nut choc. not as creamy and sugar loaded as the cadbury one, but still pretty good. i guess cos the un-sugary-ness balances the sweetness of the raisins and stuff... ya. *eyes diminishing supply in the lunchbox* should go back and buy more. XD

How... Helpful...

so we just had a lecture on how to write the intro for the thesis.

can i just say it was an absolute piece of crap? half the time i was vandalising the paper in front of me with doodles of how close i could draw lines together... and practising writing with my left hand (i can now do a demented cursive version of 'the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog). the rest of the time i was making stupid comments to char and stoning. -_-"

in fact, i don't remember anything else abt the lecture. except that when it ended, i ended up kicking mr veggie really hard for smthg i don't remember either. lol. i guess that kind of summarises it. considering i only rememebr teh stoning and the violence. lol.

anyway, is in PAIN! been d/ling the FMVs for crisis core... have abt 3 more files to go... except they have no sound/ *cries* i'm just hoping that the sound files come in the last batch of files otherwise will be muchly sadded. weeeeeeeh. butbutbut, all the PRETTY AND SHINY. *goes gaga* oh well. may the english version be released soon. and may the voices not be mutilated. *crosses fingers*

Crack FF7 conclusions

am currenlty waiting for the last batch of glass mask to finishing uploading for the amy-chan... ne, you better d/l it all before the 7 days is up, i don't want ot re-u/l. yousendit was being crazy at points. -_-"

did a bit of editing, but wasn't relaly int eh mood... besides, i',m supposed to do a light and heavy sample edit... except i don't know if my version of light is actually over-critical and becomes medium. lol. and likewise, the heavy edit, i dunno if there's going to be enough substance in it. oh well. will do the real thing tmr... just changed a few glaring mistakes and highlighted the dodgy wordings that my brain couldn't process while waiting for laundry to finish.

anyway, friday... dance was fun. spent abt 5 min discussing tyson's ideal partner with brad and his student... it was very... educational. and traumatising. *goes to bang head on wall* OVERSHARE! lol. not really. but still. hahaha. went for dinner with ning after that... yummy beef udon~ lol. and during dinner, i managed to scare ning by telling her that i read a fic with S/Z/C/aeris OT4 and it was utter crack. XD and when she freaked, i told her that with crisis core, i wouldn't be surprised if some of the madder writers out there came up with a new OT4 which would be S/Z/angeal/genesis. in watever order and combination. in fact, now that i think abt it, it would be really pushing it, but if they were nuts enought o write OT5, they could just chuck cloud onto the end of that entire mix as the ultimate uke. lol. and thinking even further, aeris could be brought into the equation making it OT6, but that just scares myself so i shall shut up ANYWAY. we came to several conclusions regarding ff7:

1) sephiroth invented rebonding

2) cloud invented hair gel

3) yuffie makes kleptomania funky

4) tifa invented implants. if not, she can go bitch fight with lara croft to see who gets that honour. XD

5) cloud makes multiple personality disorder look cool

6) sephiroth could have started a trend with premature ageing. as proven by kadaj, yazoo and loz.

and to end it all off, here's an excerpt from a fic i was reading. here's wat goes on in cloud's head:

anyway. today, went market, the stupid meat guy actually didn't screw up my order. lol. maybe becos koala was standing very close behind me. hahahaha! ahem. ya. went to waku's place for lunch, overdosed on stuffed figs and condensed milk. XD then wibbled home and crashed for 4h, woke up, stoned at the computer, went to collect potatoes for koala to help mr veggie deplete his potato stores (ahahahah!!) and then went to the city for dinner... turned out that i was EARLY. and borders was closed. so i wandered up and down la trobe street till koala showed up. then we went to eat ice cream at trampoline while waiting for kat and waku to show up, cos both of us hadn't eaten a proper meal since this morning's brunch... after that we went to a korean place for dinner and had some kim chi soup thingy with mackeral. not bad. i have been introduced to the joys of kimchi lol. but i think it's too spicy... i prefer wasabi. more kick. hahaha. ya...

came home. did laundry. there was this crazy girl charging her ipod on the wall socket outside reception... and let's just say that she was on teh phone when i went down to use the washer, was still on the phone 30min later when i went to put stuff in the dryer, and was STILL on the phone when i finally collected my laundry a grand total of 1.5h after i'd first seen her. -_-" impressive. ya.

have the urge to read naruto manga.... amy chi this is all your fault for sending me that crack naruto fic yesterday. *head desk*

when i finish my bittorrenting spree, maybe i'll start watching naruto anime on crunchy roll. lol.

A job?

i think i'm on the way to getting a job.... applied to be an academic editor, so it's a freelance job... sounds quite cool... anyway. the guy just replied to say that he's received my application and that i sounds pretty qualified (bwahaha). then he was asking abt my chinese proficiency, so i was like.. .er... i can speak, read, but i can't do technical terms. not unless you want a lot of guessing.

ya.

anyway, am waiting for him to send back some documents for me to do a sample round of editing to see whether or not i can do editing properly. so shall cross fingers and hope that e-mail comes back soon and that my mutilation editing passes... would like to have another job to put on my resume esp since the last time i worked was back in 2004. -_-" la la.

Yesterday's spam

yesterday was pretty slack... got to the lab and ended up spending the morning cleaning up with supervisor... it's really quite a mess, cos other pple who used the benches didn't exactly clear up after themselves. so we've got random tubes of stuff, more random tubes of samples which aren't exactly supposed to be there, and equipment scattered everywhere. -_-" doesn't help that whil supervisor likes to throw stuff away, HoD likes to keep stuff. lol

supervisor bought me lunch at garage... yummy chicken bak chor mee. lol. he was still very excited abt geting the venom from the day before. so had yummy lunch and we were chatting abt random stuff. then came back to the lab and he was trying to get HoD to throw more stuff away. lol. so i was helping weigh the sharps containers and stuff... la la... then after that he left at 4.30, so i also left. XD cos i was the onyl student in the lab yesterday, patricia's sick again.

went home and started folding clothes... char rang me a few mintues later, so we went to freddo's for gelati. XD finally FINALLY get to eat gelati hahaha. yummy desu~ came back home and KO'd on the couch for abt an hour then woke up and microwaved my lunch for my dinner. (my goodness, that's becoming a habit. -_-") ya... then went online and spammed pple... ate grapes, which were a disappointment cos they're not that great. sigh. mr veggie came over to borrow my screwdrivers cos he wanted to take his toaster apart (haha, mum's 6 for $3 screwdrivers certainly are useful. wat with my spontaneously collapsing chair and whatnot)... of course, he didn't quite appreciate my suggestion of chucking it out the window if he couldn't open it. XD spammed him with ff7:ac dvd and OST, as well as the DoC OST... in return for the cell block tango mp3 from chicago. also got teh amaranth mp3 from kevin, so is happy happy joy joy now. XD

was loading all the fic links that lyd gave me... so is going to work thru them slowly. XD am currently in the lab... and guess wat? my supervisor didn't show. -_-" why am i not surprised. lol. not bad. i think we is make a good pair. both equally slack, believe in coming late and leaving early and working from home! lol. haiz. thinking of siamming home early, but it means that i'd have missed the nth research in progress presentation since i started here. -_-"

also writing up my CV to send to a job i'm applying for... freelance academic editing... should be fun? ya. hope it's not smthg dodgy, but if it's advertised on the uni careers site, i think it should be ok? oh well. at least i'll have smthg to do... and some $$$ haha. ya... am currently wracking my brain as to wat fields i'm competent to edit in.. i mean, we did some psychology, so i guess i could handle that... i hate immunology so not too keen... anatomy... maybe? haiz. i dunno. think i'll just put general medicine and all related fields lol. the slacker's way out.

ok... shall go and continue tweaking my CV then... i wonder if the tea has tables set up yet. -_-" not impressed. very most i'll go and buy sushi and eat at my desk. and read fic. lol whee~ byebye~

VENOM!!!!

YES!! after much hair pulling and swearing, WE HAVE FINALLY GOT VENOM FROM THE SCORPION!!!! *hugs the scorpion* (well, maybe not hug.)

supervisor spent the afternoon modifying the apparatus again. he was soldering the wires onto a new pair of forceps... while i was eating my muffin int he lab cos, the tearoom's being refurnished, so there are no freaking tables. -_-" so i couldn't eat my stew even tho i'd lugged it to uni. GR. ya. so could hear him swearing from behind the shelves and at one time he was singing amigos para siempre. -_-" anyway. patricia left early, so when supervisor was done, he came and we were chatting... he was telling me how he was courting his wife and telling me to make sure that my future bf treats me well. O.o lol. then he went to the animal house... and rang me 5 min later to tell me to bring the generator along cos he'd left it behind. lol.

so got to the animal house.... he had the poor abused female scorpion that we've been trying to milk since forever cos she's teh biggest and easiest to handle... this time we used electrical-conducting gel on the forceps... so he put the forceps on the stinger and me, being teh brilliant person, saw that he'd positioned it so i hit the switch. erm. ^_^" the forceps weren't exactly insulated and my supervisor wasn't wearing gloves. so... er... cough. i kinda electrocuted him. ^_^" BUT! there was this huge drop of venom and we were like "OMG IT WORKED! YES!!!" and then he gave me this look and said, "next time, wait till i say go before you hit the switch." and i was going la la la... not my fault i swear. XD

but yes, we have venom. it now sitteth in the freezer waiting for analysis. whee! erm. ya. so. need to figure out exactly wat to analyse and how. -_-" *does happy dance*

to celebrate, i came home and cooked jap curry... then i decided to watch ff7:advent children since i haven't watched the dvd at all since i bought it and since my complex is kicking back in, given how cute zack is in crisis core. XD so ya... watched the dvd... lol. cloud and vincent are on silent crack, reno and rude have totally lost it. XD and omg! sqee! pretty animation (like i don't say this everytime i watch it lol).

ya, but i finally got to watch the reminiscence with subs, cos the last time i watched at pam's cousin's place, it didn't have subs. so they were translating the conversation on the spot for me. lol. and all i can say is that it's highly entertaining!! lol!!! vincent x yuffie!!! their love is so crack!!! XDXD basically, there's this part in btwn the screens of the original game, where everyone's calling cloud to tell him to go to barrett's place. so here's my favourite convie...

Stuck.

pat's frens are here at the lab... and they are damn noisy. i think my supervisor is getting irritated with them too cos they keep invading and gossiping... then again, it might be that he's jsut cranky today.

anyway. abt ams. am currently stuck, cos nothings working. supervisor contacted some guy in UTS who has done the scorpion milking before, so the plan is for him to fly over to sydney for the day and learn how to do it... but i'm not sure how that's going. cos jsut now supervisor was telling me abt this notorious guy who used to work in the lab here who has like diva-personality... and he's apparently fighting with him to get results on this project. and they don't really like each other. so the minute we start going full steam with this project and askign pple for help, the other guy's going to find out and compete with us. not like it's a problem for my project, cos it doesn't impact on me getting my ams report out, but in terms of publishing, that might get a little tough. and considering that my ams project is only a fraction of the whole project that my supervisor is going to undertake, it's going to make things difficult for him.

i knew the academic world was bitchy, but i never knew how much. *impressed*

so i'm stuck doing reading adn stuff as usual. sigh. i guess i really shud start compiling allt eh info and papers i've been reading. sigh.

this morning was funny. i got here early for once, lab was LOCKED. -_-" so i went to find the guy in the lab next door to ask him to help me open the door... supervisor showed up 30 min late for the meeting. lol. turned out that he was gettign too happy with his brekkie at the cafe down teh road and didn't realised that it'd been 30 min since he last checked his watch at 5min before our scheduled meeting. lol. oh well.

been reading teh news... and decided to read abt the odex case. mum also told me yesterday that court ruled in pacnet's favour, so they won't need to release the ISPs. *sigh of relief* i'm safe! pacnet i love you. XD ya. but don't think i'll be d/ling any anime anytime soon. will ask my bro-in-law for his opinion first. lol

weather is NUTS. it suddenly just poured, and then the skies were clear and blue and sunny, then it poured again and now the sky's bright but cloudy. -_-" crazy melbourne weather haha.

was watching the crisis core trailers just now again.. sqeee! so pretty... really want to play it... sniff sniff. anyone knows when the english version comes out? do PSP games have guide books anyway? cos i'd buy the guide just to drool at the pretty and the shiny. lol. i really hope that they get a good voice for zack, cos his jap voice is just too cute, all hyper and full of mischief. lol. i think the best voice match i've heard so far is vincent. cos the person who did his english voice had almost the same tone and sound. too bad squareenix doesn't release the games with jap audio and english subs. lol

the one day i wake up to go to the lab when both supervisors aren't there, I CAN'T BLOODY GET IN. i thot the door was left unlocked, cos patricia was the last one out on fri, and she doesn't have the keys either, but nope, i think someone from the other lab locked up for us... ya.. and victor hasn't ordered in the extra keys for the lab. so much for going to the lab to do some work. BLEH.

and koala, remember my offer to change places with you 2 weeks ago? you're welcome to be a girl on my behalf today. XD

da jie forced me to go sleep early last nite/this morning. lol. da jie is the powderful!!! she wields great authority over her xiao mei allll the way from home. XD

is having the urge the go to the teddy bear shop to buy myself another stuffed toy... must.. resist. too many already. altho, if i'm feeling nice, i'll buy patricia a b'day/good luck in boston prezzie since she's exactly 1 year younger... and then i can molest glomp look at the stuffed toys in there. XD

need to go and do some artisticc vandalism. lol. maybe after i sleep. i really can't be bothered doing all the washing required after that tho... LA LA LA. haha. and need to pack all of waku's stuff to bring back to her place tonite... it's be funny if she wanted to bake soem day and realised that smthg was missing. yes, that really DID happen. which was the funny part cos it was so... coincidental! hahaha!!! but thank you for lending me your oven anyway, mr veggie. it was muchly fun altho if this was a cook show we'd have failed. or else we'd have gotten point for sitting on the floor in front of the oven staring at the cakes and then heating up egg tarts at random intervals. and me forgetting to add milk and having to stir it into the pans 5 min after they'd been sitting in the oven. ^_^"

the cake... the first one is kinda sweet. the second... will comment on that at a later stage. XD

watched hoodwinked while waiting for the cakes to cool. it was utter crack. i especially love the yodeling goat. and the crazy squirrel. lol! so CUTE! if i have a squirrel oen day, i'm going to name it nuts. or psycho. hahaha.

ya. i'm still on a sugar high. tasted the cake, so it's edible since i'm still alive, but i went bang into a sugar high. XD scared mr veggie cos it was quite sudden. but then again, it's sort of revenge since he was drinking coke and getting high while i was mixing the cake. XD whee!

bakign is the fun... wants my own oven. oh. and i also forgot the measuring cups... hahaha... lucky i brough tmy nalgene bottle along, so i was measuring everything out in it. lol. for once i 'm glad it's got marking in ounces as well. was quite funny, using a water bottle to measure out flour and sugar. hahahaah.

ok. shall go and contemplate cooking dinner now... i think. my eating habits is the sporadic now. not very good... also have this urge to reread fusion, the ff7 fic amy-chan rec-ed a long time ago... help. the release of crisis core is making my sephiroth complex return in full force... except that... erm... suddenly S/Z/C is starting to sound... good. NOOOO!!! WHYWHYWHYWHY!! when did that happen to me... *headdesk* i blame it on a crack fic i read yesterday where sephiroth had a bad hair day and got tangled up in his uniform and sword. lol! seriously, if a guy had hair THAT long, how on earth does he not get it in the way when fighting??? and would he bitch slap cloud if cloud accidentally cut off a bit of his hair while trying to kill him after being resurrected for teh nth time by squeenix? lol. randomness!!!!

XD altho the psycho one who gave waku discount last time was... he was waving the price card at some random person at one point of time. O.o ya. but the girl took our orders this time so was over nice and fast with no stress. lol.

went to waku's place for lunch and i proceeded to grate my oranges till my arms almost fell off. i told her that if there were any more than 2 oranges to grate, i'd have to learn to use my feet. -_-" ya. then i KO'd on her couch while she cleaned ard me. XD and for once i didn't abuse kisuke-chan. i just glomped him to sleep and used him as a pair of blinkers when the sun was in my face. i knew he had long ears for a reason! besides for tying into a knot on his head and making him look stupid. came home and cleaned my place, cos i was inspired... then walked down to the city to buy more candles. cos yanno, wat's the point of having a candle holder when you got no cnadles to burn??? hahaha. bought b'day cards too... spent ages there, cos couldn't find a decent one for my mum. is too lazy to go back to hunt for cards again altho her b'day's in oct so OH WELL. also managed to find a suitable one to send to deborah's parents, so i guess it's abt time i wrote to them, considering that i've been putting it off since july. -_-" don't really want to write tho. cos i might end up thinking too much but oh well. somethings you just have to do.

bought baking stuff too, so tmr is going to tim's place to trash his kitchen bake... lol. assuming that he's awake. XD hehe. anyway. last nite. got invited for dessert hunt with tim and deva. so we went to lygon... freddo's, all the ice cream depleted. kokoblack was closing. ended up at some italian place where we shared huge slices of cheesecake and mars bar cake. YUMMY~! then me and deva got high and started plotting how to help him pick the waitress up. lol (i swear that wearing low cut tops is part of the uniform -_-") and basically we (or rather, me and deva) just sat there and laughed at him for the better part of an hour. XD then they came to my place and stayed till 1.30. deva was reading my cookbook while time was attempting to beat my high score at chuzzle and bejeweled. HA. i rule at msn games. XD sort of. tee hee. ya. so after all that sugar is anyone still wondering why i couldnt' sleep till 3? lol

scorpions... sigh. the thing still isn't working. no idea why either. just remembered that some pple used saline on the electrodes, so maybe i shud suggest that to supervisor? ya. very irritating that we still can't get any venom out. GR!

dance. was fun. and tiring. i was finally able to pull off the chacha properly yesterday. but tyson says need more attack still. and he almsot lsot it when he realized that i've never scraped the sole of my shoes before. ^_^" erm LA LA LA. so ya. waku laling~ when you buy your new shoes prease to help me get a brush!!! and erm... i don't need to change the heel guards yet, but how on earth do you get them off?? i'm scared i'll break the heel whil ei'm at it. lol. but then again, it's be an excuse to buy new shoes. BAD EN-CHAN. lol. my samba is getting there. need to practise the spin thingy. i can't balance if i do the arm styling as well, i feel like i'm going wheeeeeeeee and if tyson doesn't catch me i think i might go toppling sideways. lol. speaking of toppling, during the ending for chacha, there was one time where he was standing too close and my heel ended up catching on his shoe (i dunno how that works out, cos he wasn't that close either) and i almsot went piang onto my face. lol. then he made me dance with KJ and it was funny cos i'm almsot 1 head taller than him with my heels, so everytime there was an underarm turn i'd duck slighly otherwise i'd almost hit my head. lol.

yup, so is looking forward to medal night in oct. i ran into elaine and louise at central today, elaine might be doing her silver modern medal. XD was trying to convince her to change lesson days, but she says that her blonder teacher no works on friday. so i concluded that 'ze blondez goez on ze hot date'... except he's engaged, so hopefully it's his fiancee he's hot dating with lol. haven't seen jono in a long time. but he's still crazy. if blondeness was related to psychoticness as it seems with jono, then draco malfoy would be an absolute raving nutter. lol.

ok! time for webcast. will go pester pple online later. dunno if there's going to be a cafe tour tmr or not... or if i'm actually going to wake up for that lol. whee~

Busy day...

*flops over and dies* bleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh

got to lab at 10.40... supervisor told me to come ard 10.30.... kena pigeoned by him. *sulks* ended up surfing the net and reading the news (my goodness, i haven't read so much news since last year when JCH had papers. lol. now eveyr morning i log into the student portal and read the headlines to waste some time. XD) anyway. he showed up at abt 12... turns out his step daughter was sick so he was babysitting her. then we went to try to milk the scorpions after that...

ARGH! no venom. *head desk* we tried the electricla stimulation at many different voltages, didn't work... changed scorpion and tried using a parafilm (like with snakes, so we get the scorpion to sting the parafilm and catch the venom in an eppendorf tube) ya... so we got the male scorpiona nd basically chased it ard the experiment area (a gravel bed)... NO REACTION!!! i prodded it with a spoon, my supervisor jabbed it with forceps to try to get it pissed off, ended up dropping the eppendorf on its head a couple of times by accident, NO BLOODY RESPONSE. it didn't sting anything, just ran from side to side and tried to climb the wall. to qoute my supervisor, "you're a scorpion, how the hell did you survive 400 million years if you won't even sting an eppendorf tube!!!"

needless to say, we're both very irritated now. but he swears that we'll get venom somehow. our last resort is to dissect ou the venom gland, but that'll mean killing all the scorpions. -_-" he spoke to another guy before he went home and that guy (the infamous michael lew haha) suggested injecting potassium into the tail to force the muscles to contract and expel the venom. hopefully, if we do that, it'll work, and all that potassium won't cause the poor scorpion to die in the process. -_-"

but in happier lab news, the spider in the corner of the room is a redback spider. and apparently my supervisor had given up on it as dead, but he found out today (courtesy of me making a random comment abt the huge spider in the tank (to which his initial reply was that there was no spider in the tank)) that it was actually still alive after not having been fed for a long time. so he chucked a few crickets into its web and i actually saw it sucking the juice out of a cricket. fascinating. lol. i think for someone who hates creepy crawlies, i'm enjoying myself a lot. XD

ya... so now we're also thinking of how to test various components of the set-up. i suggested that maybe the electrodes don't work properly... so we've to get an oscilloscope to test if the current is flowing, becos using a lamp won't work. probably. i give the suggestions and leave it to my supervisor to do the physics. XD wheeee...

so i hung ard in teh lab all day, didn't eat lunch in the end cos was in the animal house till past 2... then was surfing to try to find alternative ways of milking them... went to union house to grab some bubble tea at 3.30, then skipped the pharm lecture and read journals and spammed pple and contemplated switching to use i-tunes and importing my music library. lol. went home ard 5.30 in the end... so is DAMN TIRED now. -_-"

laaaaaaaaaa. oh. and my stew leaked out of my plastic bag and onto my harry potter book. so no prisoner of azkaban has a patch of beef stew stained on the cover and the edges of the first few pages. NOT IMPRESSED. gr.

i think i'm going to become a muse fan soon... oh dear. i think i'm going to end up leeching all their albums off mr veggie... harddrive space dropping la la la....

ok... i think i'm going to crash on my table for a while. then wake up and cook some supper. cos i ate the beef stew that i'd packed for lunch as my dinner. -_-" very screwed eating habits. cmi. desu.

ps: katkat! yes, i know JP. he was in my group for 2 semesters i think? didn't know he was doing music, but he's probably doing the med/arts degree instead of mine which has the research year. so he's prob not doing the research year and is focusing on his music degree for the next 2 sem. lol. and ya, i think he'd be a bit traumatised cos i used to be very hyper or very stoned on the train to and from the hospital last year. XD

Stoning again

laaaaaaaaa... mondays and wednesdays are the most draggy days of the week, i think. cos on mon, you don't want to get out of bed. and on wed, you think, omg, it's the middle of the week. someone prease to shoot me now. XD

but yes, i'm up and at the lab. am currently surfing the nature journal in hopes of finding relevant articles. is sleepy tho. -_-" chewing gum didn't help. it just made me sleepier from all the jaw exercises lol. XD

incidentally, i've finally started wearing my rings again. figured that since i've got at least 1 more day before lab work starts, and since i painted my nails and everything, i might as well wear them. XD whee~ lol i remember i used to wear my really chunky one to dance when pete was my teacher and he used to be kinda scared that i'd cut him if i accidentally hit his face when i forgot to keep my hands close to myself during the spins. ^_^" (well, i didn't mean to elbow desh across the forehead either...) but so far tyson has been relatively unscathed i think? no... i think i rammed my elbow into his chest before. oh well. at least he's tall. if it'd been adam or brad they'd have no nose left cos i remember that it was quite a hard hit cos he was making me do crazy spins to get me dizzy so he could dip me. XD

anyway! is off to austin tonite for some talk on the new surgery entry requirements and watnot. why am i going? i dunno. in the off chance that i decide to go into surgery maybe? but i think it's highly unlikely. except that given my streak of saying i'm never going to do smthg and end up doing just that, well, might as well go ne? and it's also a chance for me toe SOCIALISE. lol. my ulterior motive. lol.

and apparently i have declared bejeweled war on the mr veggie. except so far i rule. XD was quite funny yesterday. he was desperately trying to salvage his score while i was playing and talking to parents until my wrist cramped and i gave up. XD yay for msn games. XD (can anyone tell that ams students really DO go mad during the ams year? lol)

i e-mailed mum to pass my white nail polish to mag's mum, so i can do my french nails.... if i don't have to cut my nails totally short for lab work again. oh well. is tempted to go buy a bottle of black nail polish (where sells cheap nail polish? anyone knows?? well, cheap but decent quality) and then do black base white tips for fun. this is all kevin's fault. I HATE YOU. that said, prease to pirate nightwish ? when the CD comes out lol. XD which reminds me, i need to contact mag to ask her when her mum's coming anyway. my mum wants me to buy a belt so i can pass it to her mum to bring back. and again, here is my chance to SOCIALISE. lol

hm... ok. shall go and surf articles, play some jigsaw and look intelligent... everyone else is at lunch, my supervisor disappeared, i think he went to give a lecture somewhere. no idea. is waiting for it to turn 2.15 so i can go down to the tearoom and eat in relative peace and silence. la la la.

Wishing magic existed

so that i could charm my bed to kick me out and just deposit me on the floor and not let me climb back in when my alarm clock goes off.

in other words, yes, i didn't go lab today. figured the scorpions could survive another day without my meddling.

woke up at 10.30, intended to wake up at 11.30, but noooo, just had to snooze and resest my alarm so many times that i finally hauled my ass out of bed to do my laundry at 1.30. -_-"

*bangs head on wall*

i need to fix that habit of mine. it's gotten worse since i started to live alone. cos no more waku to drag me out of bed to eat. lol.

have decided that i should start on my introduction soon. plan to do lots some cut adn pasting from my lit review and project outline. XD wonder hwo long it will have to be??? hmm... shall aim for abt 2000 words first... cos i think my final thesis is either 8000 or 10,000 words. la la la

argh! bad hair day. my fringe looks gross. it's flopping everywhere... grrrr. then again, i'd rather have it flopping down then standing up like when the wind is blowing in all directions. -_-"

movie tonite~! still dunno wat it's abt, but i don't really care. i just need some human interaction. lol. and from the many crack- and corn-filled conversations with mr veggie, i have concluded that i need to socialise with more of the meddies. as well as get to know the meddies that i've been socialising with better... in other words en-chan needs to snap out of teh anti-social shell. lol. imagine that. i'm anti-social. la la laaaaaaaa.

i feel like baking the condensed milk + white choc + cranberries + oats cookies. who wants to sacrifice their oven to me? XD need to find out where to buy cheap oats. i know the cranberries are pretty cheap at vic mart. la la la. actually, scratch that, who wants to sacrifice their kitchen to me??? i can't exactly whip up the cookie dough at home cos i don't have a bowl big enough to mix it all in. -_-"

A new obsession

suddenly, i've thsi urge to watch the fantaghiro - cave of the golden rose series again. only problem? the english dub/subtitles are virtually non-existent. bleh. they showed the englihs dub on tv loooooooong ago... like in the eraly 90s, cos i remember watching it before i moved house. sigh. apparently there's going to be a dvd released with original italian audio and english subs... weeeeh. >< sniff. and i can't find english one on youtube... i think there's only italian and german audio. WAH! of all the times i wish i understood a foreign language...

other tahn that... nothing happening today... didn't sleep, so went market early... the 2 stupid males at the meat stall were attempting to make conversation -_-" and the same stupid guy almost screwed up my order AGAIN. ARGH. shoot them all.

erm... ya then i slept thru till 6pm. XD and now i'm starving after webcasting church. so i goes to cook dinner whee~

An... interesting day.

so i dragged myself out of bed to go to the lab, thinking that i shud be more motivated.

got there, lab was empty. -_-" i was locked out, in fact, cos i still haven't got my own set of keys. so i went to library to read for half an hour... 11.30, went back, still noone there

so i went home. XD

and went back to sleep. XD woke up at 4... ate my lunch, read fic, hung ard and then went for dance. did a 3/4 latin run with tyson, worked on jive styling and cha cha. he's trying to do fancy spins with me... IS SCARED I FALLS FLAT ON MY FACE!!! -_-" anyway. dance was fun. haven't had that much exercise in a long time.

came home and bought a bottle of coke zero. waku suffered the effects when she rang me later on. we babbled for 15 min and i was ranting abt my neighbours having ANOTHER bbq. at first i thot they were pretty tame ie: no music blasting. htat was before i left for dance. came home and the music was going full swing. -_-" so i chipped in with my own music... i was err... blasting britney spears. ^_^" and my pseudo techno tracks. lalala. XD

showered and am now eating my dinner at 12.30. mushroom omelette with rice and a cup of milo~! is it just me or is milo no longer sweet. -_-" tempted to go buy sugar, but i won't use it fast enough before it goes gross so no point. oh well.

anyway. my plan for tonite? i'm not sleeping. so i'll go market at 7am. then i'll come home and crash. XD cos waku's not going (she rang ot tell me that she's abandoning me for injecting her psycho mice!! waaaaah!!) and i'm super wide awake from my nap, and i know that if i set my alarm to wake up, i won't wake up. i'll just go righ tback to sleep and end up with no food. i WAS plannign to go ALDI after going market, but guess that's not going to happen now. oh well. mabe i'll go on sun. and hmm... tempting to go to that cafe to buy choc croissant... yumm. lol
